Peoples Naija Foundation was established by our founder, Joe Udeoji, driven by his deep passion for health equity and education. This profound dedication traces back to 1995 when tragedy struck his hometown of Nsude, Enugu State, Nigeria. It was during that fateful year when his thirteen-year-old sister lost her life in a heartbreaking incident. While she was fetching water from a local stream to wash her clothes, she tragically drowned. Joe's older brother discovered her bucket inside the stream just moments after she had fallen in. The news quickly spread throughout the village, prompting everyone to rush out of their homes to understand what had happened. Joe's mother, filled with anguish, ran to the stream, crying out for help. Some individuals who knew how to swim bravely jumped into the water in search of his sister. However, they resurfaced within seconds, without her. Finally, one of the "rescuers" emerged from the murky waters, holding Joe's lifeless sister in his hands. With no knowledge of CPR and residing in an impoverished country where there was no ambulance system, Joe's family had no choice but to place his sister's lifeless body in their bus and drive her to the nearest clinic, which was a 30-minute journey away. Less than an hour later, they returned home, bearing the unbearable reality that Joe's sister, Nneka, had passed away. This devastating outcome could have been different in more developed countries.
Regrettably, such situations are far too common in underdeveloped nations. Fundamental healthcare practices like CPR and First Aid are not taught, and educational resources are not easily accessible to the general population. Many developing countries lack universal healthcare systems and well-equipped hospitals. In these nations, access to healthcare is a luxury reserved for the wealthy and privileged. Committed to addressing these challenges, Peoples Naija Foundation strives to provide basic health education to those who are less fortunate.
We earnestly invite you to join us in our mission to ensure that everyone possesses vital knowledge about their health, thereby reducing the likelihood of future illnesses. Every donation we receive holds immense value to us as we work towards this goal.
Our mission is to empower underserved communities, including children, in Nigeria by providing access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities. Through partnerships with local organizations and individuals, we aim to create sustainable solutions that enable individuals, especially children, and communities to thrive.
